Demand That Israel Allow Palestinians to Export Their Agricultural Produce!

The Israeli Government recently took action to prevent Palestinian farmers from exporting their agricultural products through the ports and land crossings. This will cause additional hardships on Palestinian farms and families and further cripple the Palestinian economy already struggling under Israeli occupation.

TOlive Oilhe ban is applicable to all agricultural fresh produce including fruits, vegetables, dates, olives and olive oil. In 2019, Palestinians farmers exported 150 million U.S. Dollars worth of agricultural products.

Each year, the Tree of Life Educational Fund purchases organic Palestinian olive oil from the Al’Ard cooperative. Profits from the sale of this olive oil throughout Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts at churches, mosques, and labor unions supports college scholarships for deserving Palestinian students. This ongoing human rights project is threatened by Israel’s boycott action against Palestinian farmers and exporters.

Take action today: Call on Connecticut’s congressional Representatives in the House and Senate to speak out publicly against Israel’s ban on Palestinian agricultural exports!

Dear Connecticut Senators and Members of Congress,

Recently, the Israeli government announced it would prevent Palestinian farmers from exporting their agricultural products through the ports and land crossings. As Connecticut constituents, we are deeply concerned that this move will cause additional hardships on Palestinian farms and families and further cripple the Palestinian economy already struggling under Israeli occupation. We are calling on you to vocally condemn this move by the Israel government.

Such boycott action by Israel adds to the mounting tensions stemming from the Trump/Kushner misnamed “Deal of the Century.” Israel’s ban on Palestinian agricultural products is intended to pressure a suffering people into submission in contravention of rights enshrined in International law.

As US taxpayers who fund Israel’s military to the tune of $3.8 billion a year, we feel a moral obligation to speak out against Israel’s human rights violations and oppression of the Palestinian people. We believe in a vision of peace that entails freedom, equality and justice for all.

In support and solidarity with Palestinian farmers and exporters, we ask that you make a public statement calling on Israel to immediately reverse its decision to prevent Palestinians from exporting their agricultural products through Israeli ports and through Jordan.

Sincerely yours,
